Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested Jean S. Dorisca on Thursday, October 28, ending a two-year search for a fugitive wanted in a deadly crash. The 48-year-old Haitian national and lawful permanent resident was located at a home in Boca Raton by the Criminal Alien Apprehension Team.

Dorisca was taken into custody on Friday, October 30, without incident. He is charged with three counts of vehicular homicide stemming from an accident that occurred on July 16, 2024. The crash took place along State Road 60 near the border of Polk and Osceola counties.

According to the patrol, Dorisca attempted to pass a semi-truck in a no-passing zone. His vehicle then collided with oncoming traffic, killing three people. One of the victims was Dorisca’s mother.

Dave Kerner, executive director of the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, said the arrest brings the fugitive to justice after more than two years. Kerner described the team’s work as relentless and noted that Dorisca will now face the criminal charges associated with the crash.

Dorisca was booked into the Palm Beach County detention center on a felony warrant from Osceola County. He is currently awaiting extradition to Osceola County.

If convicted, Dorisca could face up to 45 years in prison. The arrest also carries the potential consequence of revoking his status as a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
