The Pretzel Shop in Pittsburgh’s Southside neighborhood keeps most of its menu items under five dollars. The business operates from 2316 E. Carson St. and uses a brick oven installed in 1872 to bake its pretzels every day.
Customers can buy single pretzels with dipping sauces for 80 cents. The shop also sells breakfast and deli sandwiches served on fresh pretzels or sandwich rolls. A housemade chicken salad on a pretzel is a popular choice, often paired with a peanut butter cookie and a Schneider’s Peach Iced Tea.
The store is open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It remains closed on Sundays and Mondays. The location features a small outdoor seating area on the sidewalk for warmer weather.
Patrons order at the counter for takeout. The shop accepts cash only, though an ATM is available on site. Lines form frequently but move quickly according to the restaurant's description of its service.
The Pretzel Shop’s low pricing structure covers a variety of filling food options rather than just single snacks. Daily specials are available alongside the standard sandwich menu. The establishment maintains its historic oven as a central feature of its daily operations.
