Aurora area high school football teams finished the regular season with mixed results over the final three days of play.

Three key takeaways define the recent slate of games. First, Cherry Creek secured a 17-0 victory over Grandview on Friday, October 30. The Panthers scored seven points in the first quarter, seven in the second, and three in the fourth to seal the shutout. Grandview was held scoreless for the entire contest.

Second, Horizon defeated Overland 55-0 on the same day. Horizon built a 42-0 lead by halftime, scoring 21 points in each of the first two quarters. The team added seven points in the third quarter and six in the fourth. Overland did not record a single point.

Third, Aurora Central lost to Lakewood 32-12 on Saturday, October 31. The result marked the conclusion of the 4A Metro 7 League schedule for the Central High Eagles. Lakewood outscored Aurora Central in every period of the game.

Context for these results includes strong performances from other metro teams. Broomfield defeated Rangeview 55-0 on Thursday, October 29, scoring at least 13 points in each quarter. Valor Christian beat Regis Jesuit 24-14 on Friday, with Valor Christian scoring in the first, second, and fourth quarters. Smoky Hill defeated Vista PEAK Prep 34-20, with Isaiah Clint throwing a passing touchdown and Jazz Jackson returning an interception for a score. George Washington beat Gateway 19-6 on Thursday, while Castle View defeated Cherokee Trail 32-16 in a non-league matchup.

Cherokee Trail’s Bryson Peterson threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to Castle View. Evan Smith and Cristian Mbamarah each caught a receiving touchdown for the Trailblazers. In the Gateway loss, Westin Rayburn threw a touchdown pass and Forrest Clemmons caught a touchdown pass for the Gateway squad.
